Pre-Program Work

at the New York Academy of Medicine Library

New York, NY | June 2015 - May 2018

The Library at the New York Academy of Medicine is one of the most significant historical libraries of medicine and public health. The Gladys Brooks Book and Paper Conservation Laboratory is responsible for the conservation and preservation of the Academy’s Library collections. I started working as a contract consultant for a digitization project in 2015, performing condition assessment of State Medical Journals. Soon after, I became a part-time Collections Care Assistant, working on a large-scale rehousing project of Health Pamphlets. In 2016, I worked full-time, partly as a Collection Care Assistant and a Cataloging Assistant. I continued to manage the Health Pamphlet project, along with environmental monitoring, conservation treatments, exhibition installation, and supervising part-time technicians. The projects listed on the website were supervised by Scott Devine, Head of Conservation at the time.
