Title: Two western papers with losses

Description & Condition

Two sheets of paper from discarded books were used to practice pulp filling. One sheet is laid paper and thinner, while the other is wove paper and thicker. Ann created mock damages for the practice session, including torn holes with shelves in the center and corners of the pages, as well as pest damage simulated with straight cuts.

Treatment Note

I practiced wet pulp filling on a suction table. To try a different approach from the second-year pulp filling seminar I attended at home, I experimented with toning the pulps by mixing different colored papers. This presented a significant challenge, as it was difficult to predict the final dried color of the mixed pulps. After numerous trials and errors, I found it tricky to achieve an even surface with well-adhered fills.

Although I may improve with further practice, I am uncertain if this method would be my preferred choice for filling losses in future treatments. This practice was carried out in consultation with Ann Lindsey.
