Gwendolyn Brooks received numerous awards, medals, and honorary degrees, many of which had accumulated dust and grime over time. Each frame was cleaned using a water and ethanol mixture, while paper components were surface cleaned with cosmetic sponges. Framed awards with broken glass or damaged frames were removed from their frames.
