As the collection primarily consisted of well-loved paper-based items, many required varying degrees of tear mending. Items in more severe condition were brought to the conservation lab for treatment, while minor tears were addressed in situ within the library vault. Many minor cases were treated using paste-precoated tissues or heat-reactivated tissues.
